Biography

Dr. Gonzalez-Trapaga earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine – Baystate Medical Center. He then pursued a fellowship in General Nephrology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Nephrology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Gonzalez-Trapaga chose to specialize in nephrology because of the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and their families while helping them navigate the challenges of kidney-related conditions. “Patients with kidney issues are often concerned with the uncertainty that a diagnosis can bring,” shares Dr. Gonzalez-Trapaga. “I see myself as a provider of hope and empowerment. By helping patients understand their condition, explore treatment alternatives, and learn ways to improve and protect their kidney health, I can guide them toward a greater sense of control over their lives and well-being.”

Dr. Gonzalez-Trapaga is passionate about listening to his patients, providing guidance, and building trust through understanding, empathy, and competence. “The most rewarding part of my work is being able to positively impact lives,” he explains. “I strive to give back the empathy, compassion, and hope that I have been given, and to be a source of light in moments of uncertainty.”
