Justin Puckett, D.O., FAAFP, FOMA, FACOFP, is a board certified physician in Osteopathic Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. In 2006, Dr. Puckett established Complete Family Medicine with a focus on providing comprehensive care for the entire family. In July 2017, Complete Family Medicine became a part of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System with Dr. Puckett serving as the Chief Medical Officer of the Complete Family Medicine division. He is an avid teacher, working with students and residents in a variety of settings. Dr. Puckett was named one of Kirksville’s Top 5 under 40 in 2012 and was awarded the Steelman/Seim Educator Award for Excellence in Academics from the Obesity Medicine Association in 2013. He was recognized and presented the Bias Buster Award by the Obesity Action Coalition in 2015 for his efforts regarding weight bias with the media, retail and travel industries, and even other healthcare professionals. He also was awarded the 2019 Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award by the Missouri Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Dr. Puckett was raised in rural Southwest Missouri. He obtained his undergraduate degree with honors in Biology, Philosophy and Religion at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. It is there that he met his wife, Kylene. They have 4 children: Prestin, Alia, Braden, and Camdin. He attended medical school at ATSU-KCOM in Kirksville. Dr. Puckett was Chief Resident at Northeast Regional Medical Center his senior year of residency. He also completed an AOA Fellowship in Health Policy at the New York Institute of Technology-New York College of Osteopathic Medicine during his last year of residency. This led to him taking an active role in health policy, both locally and nationally, always advocating for his patients. Dr. Puckett has served many national and state leadership roles and is a past president of the Missouri Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Since 2011, Dr. Puckett has led an active obesity medicine practice for all ages. He utilizes a variety of resources and treatment modalities in his obesity medicine practice including medicine management, metabolic assessments and management, VLCDs, and offers advanced diagnostic services. Some of his most joyous moments have involved observing the success of his pediatric patients in their weight management journey.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Puckett loves to travel and explore with his family. He also enjoys scuba diving, thrill rides and amusement parks, and being active in his community. The Pucketts are active members of The Crossing Church.
